The UX Research/Design team guides and informs the company towards designing and building better products and experiences for people using a variety of research methods. You will conduct contextual research, frame problems, synthesize insights, evaluate concepts or prototypes, and design and develop new products for launches and releases.
Description of main duties:
As part of the UX Research/Design team, you will work with developers and designers to support the UX experience for Shopify's merchants' online stores by:
Writing code to make Shopify's merchants' websites more effective and user friendly, particularly at the checkout process ensuring the users proceed with final purchase;
Developing, writing and modifying code to make the checkout process of the websites more user friendly making for a great user experience;
Ability to design and develop solutions to merchants' online E-commerce problems; solving technical problems;
Work with software such Axure, Sketch, UxPin, Gliffy, Invision, Flinto, Morae, Camtasia, Uxeria, Optimal Workshop and web, mobile, VR (Virtual Reality) and chatbots to achieve envisioned results;
Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements and implement solutions that will target the merchants' needs thus achieving user volume growth on their websites;
Build digital applications relevant to helping merchants grow their businesses with better point of sale web tools in conformity with Shopify's business goals and services;
Coordinate and work with other developers and colleagues;
Establish questions and means of eliciting critical information from users of Shopify technologies to adopt successful solutions; and
Design and develop digital media to improve online buyers' checkout experience.
2-5 years of relevant experience in developing and coding digital media
Research experience in a product development or service design context or evaluating interactive media software products
Hands-on experience scoping and prioritizing research questions, research planning, data gathering, analysis, summarizing, and sharing findings and applying these findings in the design, testing and development of products to improve UX
Experience applying a range of research methods with creativity, scrappiness, and critical thinking
A desire to continually experiment with and develop new methods
Experience with projects where their research insights led to better informed design decisions (eg to guide product roadmaps, strategy decisions)
Experience influencing teams or companies to become more people-centred
Experience in visual design, web design, or prototyping.
