In 1977, Distinctive Employment Counselling Services of Alberta (DECSA) emerged as a community based non-profit charitable organization that provides supports, services and programs for individuals with barriers to employment, education and entrepreneurship. Since then, more than 50,000 Albertans have accessed DECSA programs and services. Our programs and services assist both adults and youth with disabilities, sexually exploited men and women including those who are transgender, and those affected by domestic violence, addictions and concurrent disorders.
In 2013, Deborah Rose was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of DECSA, where her vast expertise in disability management, program and leadership development have contributed to the growth and sustainability of the organization. For over 20 years Deborah has been a strong proponent of the value of the non-profit community and views non-profits as a critical interface between the public and government. Deborah empowers individuals, business and community members to take an active role in creating a truly inclusive environment in which all people are respected and recognized for their ability. She is supported by a talented team that shares her dream of a barrier-free future.
