Fraser Health currently has an exciting full time opportunity for a Perfusionist Supervisor to join Royal Columbian Hospital located in New Westminster, BC. New Westminster, located on a hillside overlooking the Fraser River, is the oldest incorporated city in BC, was once the provincial capital, and remains an urban hub of the Lower Mainland. The Royal City, as it is still known, began as a pioneer settlement and evolved into a stately Victorian city, and today remains graced with many grand Victorian and Edwardian heritage buildings. Build on your education and experience as you: Assign, schedule, supervise and evaluate designated perfusionist staff. Participate in the recruitment of staff as required. Directs, supports, coaches and mentors designated staff, reporting significant performance issues to the Manager or designate. Cooperate and collaborates with the Occupational Health & Safety Committee, by performing regular workplace inspections, investigation of injuries and related documentation, and participating in fire prevention and disaster plans as required. Conduct quality assurance and safety checks and maintains perfusion equipment such: heart-lung machines, temperature control modules, intra-aortic balloon pumps, blood gas and electrolyte analysers, heparin management systems, cell savers, and physiological overseeing devices. Consult the medical staff and makes decisions regarding the application of techniques such as hemodilution/hemoconcentration, hypthermia/hyperthermia, and blood salvage techniques. Provide intra-operative and follow-up heparin/protamine analysis for cardiac and other surgical procedures as required. Performs blood flow measurements on cardiac and other procedures. Performs blood gas and electrolyte analysis in the operating room. Maintain related patient records of the cardiopulmonary bypass surgical procedures. Reviews for completeness and accuracy, making additions and revisions as necessary.
